Lacey Henry: Volunteer Spotlight
“I have now been volunteering with Furry Friends for nearly two months,” Lacey says. “I got involved in the first place when my mom was on their Facebook page and shared the Milky & Coco’s Kit-Tea Café volunteer schedule with me. I signed up immediately and have loved it ever since
“I volunteer at the Café for approximately 2 to 4 hours a week, and I also volunteer at an elementary school for a few hours each week. As silly as it sounds, my favorite thing to do at the Café is clean the litter boxes, because I scoop with one hand and pet with the other! I also clean food bowls, feed the cats, sweep up and assist wherever I’m needed.
“My favorite part about being a volunteer is loving on all of the cats and having the chance to help them. My greatest challenge, quite naturally, is trying NOT to take every one home with me.
“The reason I give back in this way is because I think it’s important. I believe everyone should help anywhere they possibly can. As for the issue I care deeply about? I’m pretty passionate about everybody being treated equally.
“At home, I have three cats. Just for fun: I love to build miniatures and spend time outdoors with my kids.”
