Jen Uran: Volunteer Spotlight

“I have been volunteering with Furry Friends for more than a month now,” Jen says. “Because I’m always aware of our local rescue groups, I learned about you through social media.

“For the moment, I spend one hour a week at the Milky & Coco’s Kit-Tea Café. During my shift, my various duties include spot cleaning wherever it’s needed, checking on the kitties’ food and water and cleaning their litter boxes.

“My favorite part about volunteering is being greeted by the various cats during my shift. Not to mention how happy I feel seeing my fellow volunteers caring about and for them as well. Not surprisingly, the main reason I give back in this way is to help the animals.

“Outside of Furry Friends, I currently do graphic design/web design for the automotive industry. As to the issues I’m most passionate about? Animal welfare and preserving our open spaces.

“Sadly, one of my best cats passed away about a year ago at the age of 14 1/2 from kidney disease. I miss her every day. I do hope to have pets again at some point.

“Just for fun: I enjoy going to concerts, venturing on pizza quests and long distance running.”
