Dyani Aleutia Delker: Volunteer Spotlight
“I have been volunteering with Furry Friends since July 31st, 2026,” says Dyani. “I got involved with you because several co-workers of mine volunteer for you as well.
“I currently volunteer for two hours a week at Milky & Coco’s Kit-Tea Café. I clean up the cat lounge, re-fill the cats’ food and water bowls, and clean out their litter boxes. Then I hang out with the newer or more nervous cats helping them warm up to their new, and hopefully, temporary environment.
“My favorite part about volunteering is making even one small, positive change in some cat’s life. On the other hand, my greatest challenge is distinguishing between all of the black cats! My proudest moments are when I explain Furry Friends’ mission to people and watch them light up.
“Outside of Furry Friends, I manage a warehouse at a children’s toy company called Earthgrown KidDoughs that manufactures a safer alternative to play dough.
“As to why I give back: A cat has always been there for me in my darkest times. I want to be there for them in theirs. One of the issues I’m particularly passionate about is spaying and neutering your pets, and keeping your cats indoors unless they’re ‘working’ cats such as barn cats.
“At home, I have a black cat named Samara and a tabby-calico mix named Thea. Just for fun: I’m an avid rock ‘hound’ with a gift for seeing agates. I hope to get into lapidary work some day.”
