Caitlyn Ruiz: Volunteer Spotlight

“I have been volunteering with Furry Friends for several weeks, thanks to the referral of a friend of mine,”Caitlyn says.  

“I volunteer for two hours a week at the Milky & Coco’s Kit-Tea Café. During my shift, my various duties include tidying up the place wherever it’s needed, feeding the cats, filling their water bowls and cleaning their litter boxes.

“My favorite parts about volunteering are helping out, socializing with the cats and contributing to a cause that I feel deeply about. On the flipside, though, my greatest challenge is the sadness I feel for those cats that don’t get adopted. But I must admit that my proudest moments all revolve around rescuing.

“Outside of Furry Friends, I work fulltime in the world of finance. As to why I give back: it’s something I enjoy and feel strongly about. I’m passionate about many issues, but my passion for animals and giving them the best possible lives is definitely a major one.

“At home, I’m fortunate enough to have two cats of my own named Mocha and Peach.

“Just for fun: I love to bake, read, paint, hike and travel.”
