Tali and the Allers : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“Tali, formerly Talia, is our second adopted cat,” says Chad. “While we thought that Talia was a very pretty name, we wanted to shorten it a bit and reference a popular media character we like (Tali from the “Mass Effect” video game series).
“We chose Tali because she was both cute and shy, and we think shy kitties often grow up to be especially affectionate towards their owners. Her adjustment to our home was gradual. We kept her inside my wife’s office with a full-frame pet door for nearly three weeks so that she could interact with our other cat through it and still feel safe.
“Tali has been immensely comforting to my wife after the loss of our Chihuahua last year because she’s so very, very cuddly.
She’s also enriched the life of our 7-year-old tabby because he now has a spirited playmate, and they get along wonderfully together. She’s also improved my life because I find her incredibly entertaining. Although our tabby is extremely good-natured, he’s also fairly predictable and ‘normal,’ while Tali loves to ‘demon crawl’ (run across the bottom of our couch upside down with her claws) and ambush him!
“Tali enjoys playing with quiet toys (without bells) as well as with a self-guided laser toy. But best of all, she loves anything that involves being close to humans. Her favorite pastime is sitting in my wife’s lap or on her chest. As for some of her most endearing habits: she’s very talkative in that she meows conversationally, not demandingly. For example, she’ll enter the room you’re in, meow three to five times at you, then walk back out again. She also enjoys sitting on our couch cushions, propping her front paws up on the couch frame and staring out the window. It’s very cute.
“At night, Tali likes to sleep in one of our cat trees or in a window-mounted cat bed.”
