Steven and Tyler Zdenek : Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“Steven is far from being our first kitty,” admits Tyler. “In fact, we’ve fostered about 10 cats since our own cat passed.

“And yes, Steven is his original name. I don’t know of any other name that would fit him as well. I first saw him when I was picking up supplies at Furry Friends during the time we were fostering. He seemed so upset and so isolated because he wasn’t getting along with the other cats. He was also older, so the likelihood of his being adopted was lower. I simply wanted to help.

“Steven’s adjustment to our home was very gradual, but he settled in comfortably and completely after seven or eight months. And we LOVE him! He’s vocal and sweet, built like a little tank, and brings our family a great deal of joy. We adopted another cat named Midge, though, and they’re still feeling one another out. 

“Steven often gets the zoomies and goes rumbling through the house. He likes chasing fishing rod-type lure toys around and particularly enjoys receiving heaps of praise whenever he ‘catches’ them. Despite being more of an independent kitty, he thrives on affection. He happily moves back and forth between my partner and me, getting pets and purring loudly in return.

“Endlessly endearing and cutely quirky, he’s a real character, brimful of personality. But then, most cats are. He can often be very ‘grumbly,’ becoming increasingly more vocal when he’s upset. Sometimes he even ‘storms out’ to the catio like a mad dad!

“At night, our sweet and silly Steven sleeps all over the house, but mostly in the bedroom and near windows.”
