Stella Bella and the Smiths: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“As cat lovers, we’ve always had cats in the past,” says Stacy.

“We first saw Rottini on the Furry Friends website, and then attended an adoption event at PetSmart to meet her when we knew she would be there. We chose her for several reasons. We first fell in love with her coloring because her fur is so unique! But it was her calm demeanor that truly won us over.

“We changed her name to Stella Bella after adopting her because our two young daughters really wanted to pick her name. Her adjustment to living in our home was definitely more gradual. It took several days for her to get comfortable enough to explore, but now she runs the whole house!

“Stella has brought a lot of happiness to all of us. She’s our 7-year-old daughter’s best friend, and yet we all enjoy playing with her and snuggling with her on the couch. She’s also started warming up to our old black lab, and now they’ll occasionally play together.

“As much as Stella loves her own mice toys, balls and feather toys, she also likes playing with the kids’ toys, socks and whatever else she finds lying around. Her favorite game is hunt/chase. When she’s not in ‘crazy mode,’ she absolutely adores being petted and cuddled, and I think she would sleep with my daughter if she could.

“One of her most endearing habits is that she likes to sneak under the comforter and sleep in the middle of our bed. Nighttime, though, is Stella’s playtime, and so she has the run of the house. But usually she’ll hang out in her cat tree until the kids wake up. Then she goes streaking down the hall to say good morning!”
