Ridley and Jan Filippi: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“After losing my beloved RJ who had passed at the age of 18 in November 2024, I began searching for another cat on the Furry Friends website,” says Jan.

“I found one named Lucas who looked just like RJ and attended a Furry Friends adoption event at the 192nd Street PetSmart in early February. Once I adopted him, I changed his name from Lucas to Ridley and brought him home.

“Sadly, the initial weeks he spent living with me proved more difficult than I could have ever imagined. He wouldn’t come out from under the bed except to eat and use the litter box. Weeks turned to months, and although we’ve now mostly cleared that hurdle, he still stays under the bed from noon until 7 at night when he comes out to be fed.

“My little black beauty does, however, spend a great deal of time perched happily in his elaborate cat tree by the window where he can watch the world go by. I won’t give up on Ridley. As a single owner with no other pets, I’ll be able to give him all of the attention he needs and cares to receive fur-ever.

“I’m certainly not sorry that I chose Ridley. He’s just a work in progress!
“Thanks for everything you do for all of the furballs out there who truly need friends.”
