Poppi and Posey and the Lloyds: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“We’ve adopted two kitties from Furry Friends,” says Jennifer. “I adopted Poppi, then named Oakland, at a Petsmart adoption event. I wasn’t actively looking for a kitty, but as I walked down the cat food aisle and locked eyes with this beautiful calico, I went over to meet her and it was love at first sight.

“I then learned that she was part of a bonded pair, and that the other kitty, whose name was Posey, was ill and was currently undergoing treatment. After connecting with her foster mom, we adopted Posey as well. Posey kept her name because I thought Poppi and Posey sounded so cute together.

“In 2025, we lost two of our three cats: our Siberian in November and our Persian in December. I was heartbroken and our one male kitty, Fergus, was terribly lonely. We soon adopted Iris, a one-eyed Persian, from an exotic cat rescue, but we were so used to having a three-cat household that I was always keeping my heart open for another. Whether it was fate or a moment, when I met Poppi, it just felt right. And once I learned that she was part of a bonded pair, I thought, ‘What's one more?’

“Poppi’s adjustment to living with us was fairly swift. Iris is such a wonderful ‘welcome wagon’ when it comes to other cats and wanted to meet her new friend right away. Fergus was a little slower to accept her, but he still warmed up to her quite quickly. When we brought Posey home, she and Poppi picked up where they left off. Iris welcomed Posey warmly and Fergus was actually much quicker to accept a new friend this time.

“It’s wonderful having a house filled with four furry friends! All three girls get along so well, and I find them ‘hanging out’ together and actively cuddling with each other all of the time. It’s very sweet. Poppi particularly loves grooming Iris, spending many minutes grooming her long hair. Our house is really full of love.

“Poppi and Posey are fiends for anything on a stick or anything with feathers. In fact, they will both jump and play with almost anything. As for being petted and cuddled: Poppi and Posey are more on the skittish side, but once Posey realizes that you are safe, she really enjoys pets and cuddles. I’ve even gotten her to fall asleep on my lap several times, whereas Posey likes pets on her own terms.

“At night, Poppi, Iris and Fergus usually sleep in our bedroom, with Fergus and Poppi sleeping at the foot of the bed.  Posey sleeps in our daughter’s room since that’s the room she stayed in when we first brought her home.”
