Thomas and the Wrights: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“When our beloved cat, Hunter, passed away three years ago from a stroke at the age of 19, it was completely devastating,” says Sharyl. “I didn’t think that I could ever open my closed heart to another pet again.

“Then my husband, Ric, and I moved to Castle Rock while I was battling health issues among other things and I found myself at a crossroads. I reached out to a girlfriend who suggested I visit the Furry Friends website. I spent the next few days looking at all of the wonderful cats featured there. I then spoke to my husband and we decided that it was time. We agreed on a kitty then named Seamus (later re-named Thomas) because he looked so, so adorable. We had a few others in mind just in case he had already been adopted.

“And so, we attended a Furry Friends adoption event. One of the lovely ladies there took us straight to him. He came right up to both of us as if he already knew us. After spending several long moments with him, we knew then and there that we needed to bring him home.

“Needless to say, being our only pet, Thomas adjusted very quickly to living in our house – as if he also knew that he belonged here. Now everything in our home is his! Extremely playful and ever so precocious, he loves playing with his toy mouse and his toy fishing reel, and best of all, with my husband’s shoes. Not to mention feasting on copious kitty treats.

“Thomas is very affectionate and loves to cuddle all of the time -- especially at 1 AM! This has become his and my time alone together. He’s exceptionally curious, all day every day, and has to be ‘in the know’ about everything. He always has the cutest little look on his handsome face that just melts your heart. He’s such a character! One of his particular pecadillos is that he loves to chase his tail regardless of where and whatever hour of the day or night it is.

“We knew that Thomas needed his own pillow: that’s his special place to be at night. We start out with his belly rubs, then it’s on to holding his paw until he falls asleep on our bed.

“Thank you, Furry Friends. We’re so blessed to have Thomas with us in our home fur-ever.”
