Polly and Britni: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“Polly is the fourth female cat we’ve adopted,” says Britni. “Our others are from different feral cat rescues.

“We saw Polly’s photo posted on Facebook and thought she was particularly cute and sweet looking. We chose her, really, because of that photo and her name, and then went to a Furry Friends’ adoption event to meet her and pick her up. She had the name of my stuffed bear from childhood, and it felt like a sign that she was meant for us. And to top it off, we learned that her foster mom was a friend of my husband’s mom!

“Despite being nervous at the adoption event and upset on the ride home, once here, Polly immediately fit in. She was determined to play with our other cats as soon as she saw them and didn’t ‘take any flack’ from them. She especially enjoys being with Bluejay, our second youngest female. Polly, who’s the most playful and affectionate cat, greets us when we return home every day, and loves on everybody. We absolutely adore her and she was the perfect addition to our family.

“We refer to her as our ‘goblin’ because she likes to take everything -- from hair clips and receipts to children’s toys -- and hide them throughout the house. We call them her ‘goblin nests’ when we find them! She definitely keeps life interesting and gives us a good chuckle when we discover her most recent antics. She really loves chasing after cat toy wands, lasers and cat springs, and although she doesn’t walk on our cat wheel, she loves swatting playfully at Bluejay’s ankles when she does.

“Polly likes to be petted and snuggled and often paws at the blankets when we’re sleeping to crawl under them to sleep. All four cats rotate between various sleeping places at night: on the cat tree, on the window bed or on our bed, but it’s Polly who sleeps on our bed most often.”
