Peaches and the Schallers: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“When I was growing up, we always had at least two cats at one time,” says Amy. “Peaches, who was originally called Marigold, is the first kitty I’ve had as an adult not living with my parents.

“I saw her photo on the Furry Friends website and she immediately caught my eye. Why? Because I’ve always wanted an orange tabby! My husband and I quickly made arrangements to meet her at her foster home, and adopted her on the spot.
“While her adjustment to living in our home wasn’t immediate, it was still fairly quick. She was understandably frightened at first and hid behind my bathroom counter for a few hours while I lay on the floor and gave her churus. Now she’s simply the sweetest -- truly living up to her name! We absolutely love having her around, and she’s added so much joy to our lives.

“Peaches not only loves us, she LOVES her little ‘brother’ Bumi. They are well and truly bonded and can be found snuggling together all of the time. When she’s not snuggling with Bumi, she’s playing with toys. She LOVES any and all kinds of string toys!

“The cuddliest of kitties, she loves being petted, and since she’s the true definition of the words ‘snuggle bug,’ Peaches is always looking for a lap on which to snuggle at night. One of her endearing habits that keep us in smiles is that she’s positively obsessed with drawers and will run to them whenever they’re opened! She’s also passionate about string and for getting up as high as she can on assorted surfaces and various pieces of furniture.

“At night, Peaches sometimes sleeps in bed between my husband and me, but usually she sleeps curled up, cozily and comfortably, in her cat tree.”
