Millie and Jill Markos Hatfield: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I have had cats for most of my adult life,” says Jill. “And it goes without saying that each one has held a special place in my heart.

“During Covid, ironically, I found myself without a cat until a feral showed up at the door. I considered her my ‘Covid project,’ and after countless hours over a period of many months, I was finally able to get her into our home. I was in love! Sadly, she became very sick and passed away.

“Since I’m acquainted with Jaimie at Furry Friends, I decided to become a foster mom for cats needing some extra help along the way. It was a highly rewarding experience, and although I knew that I would always miss them, I was deliriously happy when all of them found their forever homes.

“Then an exquisite black mini-panther named Villanova, now known as Millie, entered our lives, and I knew that I would never let her go! She is a pure blossom of joy from morning to night. Our family is so lucky to have her. She gets along famously with my daughter’s cat -- although some of my plants aren’t quite as thrilled.

“Agile, athletic and especially energetic, Millie LOVES chasing hair ties and toys with feathers. She has no desire whatsoever to leave the house, which is perfect for me AND for the birds. Since she’s constantly on the move, it’s taken a bit of time to get in some cuddles, but I’m both patient and optimistic that this will soon change.

“Until then, it’s always so much fun when she follows me from room to room in the house while keeping up a constant kitty dialogue of  “churr, churr, churr,” which, translated into English, means “play with me.”
