Oliver and the Ellises: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“Being cat lovers, my wife and I have always had cats,” says Mike. “After viewing the profiles of various kitties on the Furry Friends’ website, we attended an adoption event at PetSmart to meet some of them.

“There we met a kitten named Chip whose name we ultimately changed to Oliver. We chose him because he craved attention and my wife fell in love with him. To say his adjustment to living in our home was immediate is truly an understatement! He’s not only been accepted well, he also enjoys going on many adventures.

“At first our other kitten wanted nothing to do with him, but, luckily, they’re now the best of friends. Oliver loves playing with all kinds of toys and still plays with the bowtie we received when we adopted him. Although he likes being petted and cuddled, it’s currently on his own terms. 

“Especially endearing to us is the way he ‘chatters’ when we use the laser light and see how quickly he chases after it. Because he’s so swift on his paws, we often wonder if he had once been a barn cat, and that makes us sad.

“At night, Oliver sleeps soundly at our feet in bed.”
