Kam and Brittni Ramp and Nolan Furey: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“Brittni and I have both had several cats in the past,” says Nolan. “We had our last one for 16 years before we sadly said goodbye last fall. After three months of mourning, we felt ready to welcome a new kitty into our home.
“We didn’t actually choose this kitty. She chose us! We were at PetSmart to meet a different kitten we had seen online who wasn’t the right fit for us. Meanwhile, Brittni opened up a kennel to play with the two little black kittens inside. Mary Berry took one look, climbed out of the kennel directly onto Brittni’s chest and started purring. When Brittni handed her to me, she did the same thing, and we decided right then that she was ours, and brought her home that afternoon. After setting her carrier down in the living room and opening it, she marched out, looked around and decided, ‘yep, I live here.’ Our house has been her castle ever since!
“While we thought her name was adorable, after getting to know her personality, we decided to change it. We narrowed it down to three choices, wrote them on paper scraps, crumpled them into balls and threw them in the air. The one she picked was her name: Kam Chancellor, after one of our favorite Seahawks players (Kam LOVES to tackle).
“We soon decided to look for a second kitten because Kam’s so playful and we both work outside of the home. We didn’t like leaving her alone all day. Two weeks later, we adopted a sister for Kam, named Pepper, from another rescue. They’re approximately 2 - 3 weeks apart in age, and after a week of adjusting, they became the best of friends and play together all the time.
“Kam loves to play with toys, especially feathers on a fishing pole and felt mice, and loves playing chase with Pepper. They take turns being the chaser and the chased. After an hour or more of hard play, Kam loves to snuggle onto one of our laps for a long nap. She really loves it if we stretch our legs out so that she can stretch herself into ‘long-cat’ poses. Exceptionally outgoing and friendly, she loves attention, and whenever she meets new people, she immediately climbs into their laps.
“Although Kam has free range of the house at night, she always sleeps in bed with us. She’s a sucker for a knee crook and will curl up purring. She also loves to be under the covers, snuggled up as the little spoon!
“Kam -- and Pepper -- have really brightened our lives and brought joy back into our home after the loss of our last cat. They make us laugh every day with their silly kitten antics. We are so grateful to Furry Friends for providing Kam, this precious ball of energy and love, to us!”
