Mocha and Ruby Safley: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“My 6-month-old ragdoll kitten, Crumble, is very needy and I could tell that she needed a friend,” says Ruby. “After an appointment with Furry Friends didn’t work out, I followed their suggestion and attended the adoption event at PetSmart. I told the volunteer there that I wanted a cat-friendly kitten, and she handed me this small black one. The second I picked her up, she nestled her head into my arms, and I was instantly in love!
“Originally named Poise, I changed her name to Mocha, and brought her home to meet Crumble and my 4-year-old cat, Willow. Because I had a black cat more than 10 years ago who was so sweet and who, sadly, went missing, I really wanted another black kitty in the family
“Mocha was nervous at first, but very quiet and polite with my other cats. After three days, she was walking around the house and was already best friends with Crumble! Only one month apart in age, they’re soul sisters and they do everything together, from grooming each other to playing together. Since they both LOVE playing with toys, there are so many cat toys strewn about the house, including balls, springs and interactive toys. They also love playing in boxes and chasing each other around the house, up and down the stairs. And while Willow’s not much for playing, Mocha always respects her boundaries.
“Mocha is probably the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I feel such a connection with her. She always wants to be close to me, and she’s the sweetest, most loving kitty I’ve ever had. The cuddliest of all my cats, she’s extremely snuggly and polite and has the cutest little meow I’ve ever heard. She especially enjoys snuggling with me on the couch – especially when I turn on the heating pad for her. I can pick her up and hold her and she doesn’t care at all. She makes a chirping noise when we play with the laser pointer or when she sees a bug, and it always makes me smile. I’ve never heard a cat do that before.
“Mocha’s either sleeping on the cat tree with Crumble at night or snuggling with me in my bed. Every morning, when I wake up, she’s somehow curled inside my arms!”
