Kiki and the Jacksons : Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“When we adopted Kiki, her original name was Lovey,” says Garrett. “Although it was both accurate and appropriate, our children love Kiki’s Delivery Service, so that meant an immediate name change! She now goes by Keeks, Kooky-Dooks and Kookly-Dookly -- all of which are equally acceptable to her.
“We chose Kiki because of how swiftly she gravitated towards our three children (13, 12 and 9). She’s incredibly friendly, engaging, and wants to be close to people at all times. No sooner had we brought her home than she wanted to be held and played with. It took her only a few days to get used to the flow of our house and figure out her ‘spaces,’ but she adjusted quickly.
“Within two weeks, she knew where she wanted to sleep and had selected various places to ‘perch.’ One of her favorites is inside my home office where she spends a large portion of her day curled up in a little soda box with a blanket. Since my wife and I both work from home, Kiki is the happy recipient of our regular attention.
“Everyone in our family loves her! All three children like to have her around while they’re watching movies and reading. Kiki’s favorite games involve toys with string and fabric and anything that mimics birds in flight. She’s also very partial to a little ball that she carries around the house with her.
“She loves being petted and cuddled and her penchant for affection has been wonderful for us. Eventually, however, she’ll get bored and will wander off to find a perch where she can simply be an observer. And yet, she eagerly engages with everyone who comes to visit.
“Shortly after Kiki’s arrival, we noticed that, in the morning, our area rugs were strewn about at odd angles. My wife and I assumed the children had done it. A week or so later, we realized that late at night Kiki gets the zoomies and charges back and forth through the house, kicking up the rugs as she goes! Now we simply slide them back into place each morning, but we find it both amusing and endearing that this is how she spends part of the night. The rest of the night, Kiki likes to sleep at the foot of our daughter’s bed.
“Thank you, Furry Friends, for connecting us with Kiki!”
