Kiki and Gimli and the Malones: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“Kiki (formerly Aurora) and Gimli (formerly Jupiter) are not our first kitties,” says Jeni. “We previously had a family cat who passed away at the age of 13.
“We met Kiki and Gimli at our local PetSmart that was hosting a Furry Friends adoption event. We were hoping to find more than one kitten so that they would have a friend, and these two just happened to be available when we stopped in. Their adjustment to our home was surprisingly immediate. Both kittens were very well adjusted, weren’t afraid of anything and were very affectionate. We have four dogs and five humans, and the kittens easily adjusted to all of that!
“They’ve affected our lives in the most positive way. They’re very sweet and not only get along beautifully with each other but they get along very well with our dogs. They quickly became family members and provide us with our daily dose of seratonin. While it took our dogs a few days to adjust to having the kittens at home, Kiki and Gimli were comfortable right away. Now all six of the animals enjoy playing and cuddling together.
“Kiki and Gimli love boxes, balls and anything that makes a crinkly sound. Both of the kittens are very affectionate and enjoy cuddling and being held by us. They both like to have independent time, but when they aren’t playing they’re always close by or cuddling with someone.
“What makes us smile is the fact that Kiki’s a wild cat. She likes to jump out and scare the dogs, and we call her a noodle because of how flexible she is. Gimli is the bigger of the two, but he has a very high-pitched meow, which is a funny contrast to his size and looks.
“At night, they both like to cuddle up between my husband and me in bed.”
