George and the Maiers: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“Last December, I adopted George, originally named Morpheus, for our family,” says Molly. “We had recently lost our beloved orange tabby at the age of one to congenital kidney disease, and a few months earlier we lost my senior 14-year-old kitty I had rescued when she was 18 months old.
“Our family couldn’t imagine life without a cat, so I went online and saw this adorable, young black and white kitty on the Furry Friends Pet Finder adoption page. That very same day, I drove several hours from our home to pick him up! What sold me on adopting him was his confidence around so many other kitties and how unfazed he was by all of the commotion and noise. He walked right up to my son, who was 18 months at the time, and rubbed against him.
“Since then, George has been the funniest and feistiest and most loving of kitties. From the moment I brought him home he’s been nothing but friendly with my kids, my husband and our dog, seemingly unbothered by anything. I’ve never met a more confident cat. He loves to watch me cook from his own stool in the kitchen and he follows me around everywhere I go. But, best of all, he lets me hold him and snuggle him, and every night since he came home, he’s slept with me.
“More recently, we added a cat named Chip to our home. He was a failed TNR who didn’t want to be a stray any longer. George was elated and welcomed him immediately. Since he sometimes plays a bit roughly for my kids, Chip is the perfect solution: George now has a brother to wrestle with.
“They both sleep with me at night, and during the day, they spend time chasing each other, playing with cat toys and watching our chickens from different windows in the house. Our family is so thankful to Furry Friends for rescuing George and giving him the chance at life so that we could bring him into ours. We love him so much!”
