Dora and the Mosses: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“We currently have a cat that was adopted from the Humane Society,” says Jonathan. “After looking at the photos of various kitties on the Furry Friends website, we decided to visit the shelter to meet some of them.
“And there was Dora! Although her original name was Aiyo, we changed it to Dora because of how much she enjoys exploring. To be honest, it was a tough decision, but the kids liked the way she played with them.
“Dora’s adjustment to living here was gradual. She stayed in our daughter’s bedroom for a week before she was allowed to roam the house freely. She’s affected our lives in so many positive ways. We truly enjoy having a new personality in our home. The kids especially like to snuggle with Dora, which is something our other cat doesn’t do.
“One of her favorite activities is ‘hunting’ our chickens! And although our other cat isn’t a fan of having another cat around, they’re finally learning to interact with each other. As much as Dora likes playing with the usual cats toys and chasing after the laser pointer’s light, her favorite toys are pipe cleaners. In fact, she made a mess of our art supplies trying to get some more!
“Aside from being active, she’s also affectionate, and absolutely adores being petted and cuddled. Two of her most endearing habits are the way she’ll sneak out an open door just to roll around on the concrete and how much she enjoys going for walks.
“At night, Dora sleeps in our daughter’s bed.”
