Cayenne and Kay: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“Being a cat lover, I’ve always had cats in the past,” says Kay.
“Now, as a foster for Furry Friends, I’m never without them. Most recently, I fostered a pair of kittens, Alfredo and his sister Rottini. Rottini was a tabby/calico with very unique markings, and I knew that she would be adopted as soon as she became available -- which is exactly what happened. I then decided that Alfredo, whom I renamed Cayenne, would become a permanent member of my family since I always wanted an orange kitty.
“Because he was already living here, he needed no period of adjustment. He now keeps me company, along with the other kitties I foster. Cayenne is the ‘Chief Kitten Ambassador.’ He teaches them everything that kittens need to know and helps them feel comfortable with other cats. While he typically gets along well with all of them, he’s very cautious around those who can be cranky at times.
“Cayenne certainly enjoys playing with toys. In fact, any small item is a toy to him. When he’s not on ‘kitten watch,’ he loves being petted and cuddled, but if ‘his foster babies’ are out of their room, he’s on duty and doesn’t have time for people to distract him.
“What makes me smile most about him is that he loves jumping into the bathtub to chase his tail, and that he gives gentle, little nibbles when he’s in a lovey mood.
“At night, Cayenne sleeps in the bedroom window, in the eagle’s nest at the top of the cat tree or on the bed beside my pillow if it’s not already occupied.”
