Kiki and the Solidays: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“When we lost our two beloved 18-year-old cats, it was hard to think that any other cat could steal our hearts,” says Betty.

“After looking at various photos on the Furry Friends’ website, however, we decided to visit the shelter. There we met Kiki, who was originally named Annie, and we instantly clicked. It’s as though she knew just what to do to win us over.

“As soon as we brought her home, she knew that she belonged here! She went straight through the cat door, no training needed, located her litter box, then came in and found the chair we hoped she’d use for sleeping. After a few weeks of getting her bearings, her true personality started shining through.
“Kiki’s full of life and joy. She chases her own tail and springs up in the air for no reason other than – I believe -- to make us smile. She has a funny, high-pitched ‘meow’ that makes us laugh every time we hear it. She doesn’t ‘meow’ much, so it’s special each time. We take walks together outside in the yard almost every morning before coming back into the house for breakfast and snacks. As an added bonus, she loves visitors, too. We’re so happy that we adopted an adult cat!

“She loves when I chase her all over the living room and then under the bed -- hide and seek, cat style. Her favorite toy is a simple stick that she brought in from the outdoors. She chases it and jumps for it, bats it around, and then gives it a good chew.

“Highly affectionate, Kiki rolls onto her side for a good petting. Although she teases us by baring her belly, it’s simply for show. She doesn’t really enjoy having us pet her there. As for her most endearing habits? She pulls her dry food out of the bowl and onto the floor to eat it. She has a strong, wonderful purr. She likes to be held over my shoulder and carried around.

“At night, Kiki sleeps wherever she wants. She has her own chair in the bedroom and goes between that and our bed.”
