Hydro Bronzer and the Woolfes : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“We love Bengals!” Kate exclaims. “Their energy and personalities keep us entertained, and their love, once earned, is so strong. Is it any wonder then, that we adopted our precious Hydro from Furry Friends?
“Happily, he settled in quickly: in fact, it took about 12 hours, and Commandr, our other Bengal took to him immediately. They played together, slept together and groomed each other within the first few days. Hydro is a ‘teenaged’ Bengal. So much energy … so many birds to try and catch from inside (although he’s always kept indoors, he does have supervised porch visits) … so many bugs to observe. He keeps us young. With me, he’s very vocal, and we have extremely interesting morning and evening conversations. With my husband, he likes to play rough and is silent.
“Sadly, Commandr recently passed suddenly. He and Hydro, as I’ve said, were very, very close. My husband and I like to think that Commandr was teaching Hydro all of our compulsions and idiosyncrasies. There are things Hydro does that remind us of him, and it feels very special.
“Hydro’s favorite toy is Mousey. When we ask Hydro where Mousey is, he goes and gets it, and then we play what seems like infinite games of fetch! We play for hours -- at least one hour each morning and one each night. Always up for affection, he LOVES chin scratches and spine strokes. No bellies, thanks, at least, not for long.
“As for Hydro’s cutest quirks: He’ll only drink running water from my sink (not from my husband’s or from his fancy fountain). He gets into my sink every morning and ‘asks’ me to turn the tap on. Then, whenever I come home, he runs up the staircase until he’s at my eye level and tells me about his day. At night, he sleeps, curled up in a ball, between my legs -- with Mousey.”
