Bodhi and the Boyds: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“Bodhi, whose original name was Buddy Caitlin, is the third cat my husband Chris and I have adopted from Furry Friends,” says Mila. “I was looking for a kitten to help bring our shy kitten, Charlie, out of her shell, and saw Bodhi posted online. I loved his large green eyes and his fluffiness. We like fluffy! And so I went to the shelter for a meet and greet with his foster.

“Happily, Bodhi’s adjustment to our home was immediate. He’s hilarious and demanding! We get far less sleep because of his late-night and early-morning shenanigans: from under-cover sneak attacks and loud meows to helping him find his favorite ‘baby’ and his insistence on playing fetch. While he and our Golden Retriever are best friends, Bodhi can be a bit of a ‘wrecking-ball’ male kitten with our older female kitty and shy Charlie. Less respectful of their space when it comes to food, he’s like the ‘annoying baby brother,’ but all of the animals love each other.

“Bodhi is OBSESSED with a stick/wand toy with a string and a small plush cat with straw/grass arms that he brought from Furry Friends. He carries it around and demands to play fetch with it. He’s chewed through the string, pulled out the straw arms, and it has been sewn back together countless times. We’ve bought him so many other toys, but nothing can take the place of his ‘baby.’

"Bodhi, who doesn’t have a care in the world and absolutely adores attention, LOVES being petted and cuddled, and is very snuggly. As for his silly, yet endearing quirks: playing fetch tops the list. Second is his habit of leaping up to sit on your shoulder. We have to watch out for this because he’ll do it at any time, especially when you’re not expecting it. If he misses, he’ll claw his way up! Otherwise, it’s hilarious and cute. Third is how much he loves to ‘help’ make the bed every day, dive bombing under the blankets, and lying in wait under the pillows.

“At night, he sometimes sleeps on our bed and sometimes on a cat tower.”
