Blaze and the Andersons: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“When my wife Rachel and I met Bongo Blaze (Blaze for short) in his foster home, he was called Tang,” Brian says. “We chose him because we were searching for a playful, orange longhair Maine Coon mix to be a companion to our tuxedo Maine Coon mix.

“Blaze became part of our family immediately but he was introduced slowly to our other two cats. On the day he was adopted, he was also introduced on Instagram and instantly garnered an astonishing 23k followers! Not only does everyone in our home get along wonderfully, he’s good company for the whole family. Not to mention being joyfully embraced by his many new fans online and being sent toys too numerous to count that first week.

“Blaze plays with everything. He particularly loves little tube toys and ‘cat and mouse’ on our iPad. He also likes CatTV on YouTube. Then there’s his passion for taking rides in our jogging stroller around the neighborhood. Speaking of passion … he loves being petted and cuddled, is extremely affectionate with everyone, and is always with us or with the other two cats.

“Some of the sweet and silly quirks that make us smile are the way Blaze lies down when he’s drinking his water, the way he sleeps directly on top of people even if they sleep on their side and the way he sleeps on his back in his cat bed.

“At night, Blaze can be found either sleeping with his people and the other two cats or alone – on his back -- in his cat bed.”
