Simba and Nala and the Moskalenkos: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“While these aren’t my first kitties, they’re my husband’s,” says Lena. “Their names were originally Plinko and Persia and now they’re called Simba and Nala.
“I met Plinko at PetSmart and I met his sister Persia through the young lady who was with Furry Friends at PetSmart that day. I didn’t choose Simba, he chose me. When I walked in to look at all of the kitties, Simba woke up from his nap with a meow, crawled onto me, started rubbing all over my face and licking my nose. I instantly looked at my husband and said, ‘yep, this is our son.’
“I was then shown a picture of Persia, and she had the most emotional and expression-filled eyes. All I had to do was convince my husband to get her as well. No sooner had he agreed than we brought them both home. Simba’s adjustment was immediate while Nala’s was gradual, but she and Simba became the best of friends within hours.
“They’re well and truly our greatest sources of joy. They bring us so much love and laughter with their quirks and attitudes. They’ll both play with anything and everything. Nala’s favorite toy is a little pink plastic scooter. She brings it into our bed every night and plays with it. Although it’s somewhat annoying at two in the morning, we love her nonetheless!
“They both love being petted and held, especially Simba. They’re also fairly independent and will chirp/meow for each other if one can’t find the other. They both have silly personalities. I taught Simba how to jump into my arms, and he now ‘surprise’ jumps onto my shoulders or back whenever he can. But he does it gently so as not to scratch me. He’s also obsessed with running water and likes to join me when I brush my teeth or take a shower.
“Nala is extremely fast when chasing after a toy although she does get dizzy from running in circles! And she makes the cutest chirping sounds whenever she sees birds or squirrels outside. They both sleep on top of our headboard at the start of the night, then towards morning, they end up at my feet. Sometimes Simba will sleep in the pillows between my husband and me or on the top of my head.
“They’re the sweetest kitties we could ever have asked for, and I’m so glad that we adopted them and made this their fur-ever home.”
