Asta and Kris: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“My partner and I lost our sweet 17-year-old female cat a few months ago, and we were devastated,” says Kris.

“We knew that we wanted to find a playmate for our 1-year-old female kitty, Rin. As we considered all of the photos on the Furry Friends website, we were immediately drawn to Asta (formerly named Ginger Ale). I promptly put in an application for him, and then, to my surprise, I received a message from the adoption team to come and meet Asta at their adoption event at PetSmart that weekend.

“I was so excited that I woke up really early to go and meet him. I knew then and there that I wanted to adopt him and bring him into our family. We began slowly introducing him to Rin, and although it’s still a work in progress, they’ve come such a long way together. They enjoy playing and having another cat around.

“We absolutely love and adore Asta! He is such a sweet, playful and cuddly boy. He loves playing with all kinds of toys and will even play fetch with us. Whenever he wants to play, he lets us know by dragging a toy over to us, dropping it by our feet, and letting out a cute raspy meow. He gets little zoomies and loves running across our house, up the stairs, up the cat towers and up the wall furniture. He also loves napping in his window perch and being held like a baby.

“While there will always be a hole in our hearts from having lost our sweet, older kitty, Asta has helped us heal and he brings us so much joy. We adopted Asta on Valentine’s Day and we now joke that he is our little Valentine kitty. I feel so incredibly lucky to get to love and spoil this sweet and unique boy. If you are thinking about adoption, consider how much love a kitty can bring to your home and heart if you’re willing to open it up to them. Cats can help heal wounds and make your life just a little brighter.”
