Adora and Tala Cardenas : Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“When I adopted Adora, her name was Pepper,” explains Tala. “Although my partner originally picked She-Ra, Adora was easier for everyone to say.

“I chose her because her eyes just drew me in. Then, when I met her at the shelter and she was so affectionate towards me, it was a done deal. She had my heart. Now she’s part of our kitty trio, joining Gris (age 4) and Torta (age 1 1/2).

“Adora’s adjustment to living with us was very gradual because she was extremely timid with everyone. Now, however, she’s affected our lives for the better by adding gentleness and a greater sense of connection. While Adora and Gris get along famously and are great together, Adora and Torta have their ‘moments’ since Torta can be quite aggressive with her.

“Adora loves playing with toys, particularly those that have a stuffed animal at the end of a pole. I firmly believe that if she lived outdoors, she would be a most efficient mouser! And although she does enjoy being cuddled and petted, she’s just as content being independent at times.

As for any endearing habits she has: “If I’m getting ready for bed later than my usual time, Adora becomes very chatty and paces around until I’m finally in bed. Then she relaxes and lies down, usually sleeping between my legs or occasionally sleeping right next to me.”
