Tansy and Hera and the Griffiths : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“My husband actually chose Tansy!” exclaims Mary. “He thought she was adorable, and he was drawn to her because she’s a mama cat and was ready for her own fur-ever home after all of her kittens had been adopted out. And so, we adopted her in June of 2024.
“A few months later, I began volunteering at Furry Friends. My husband and I realized that Tansy needed a friend, and I remembered seeing Hera at the shelter and how easygoing she was even when her roommate was spicy. I loved how, like Tansy, she was also a mama cat, and I knew she would be a wonderful fit for our family. We took Hera home in February of 2025.
“We were so lucky because both of them settled in right away. Tansy especially acted as though she had always known us. In fact, the night we brought her home, she promptly fell asleep on my husband’s lap. When we brought Hera home, she and Tansy became fast friends, and are exceptionally easygoing cats.
“They have completely changed our lives. It’s hard to put into words just how much happier we are for having them. It’s a cliche, but a part of me was truly missing before Tansy and Hera came into my life. Tansy is an expert at solving food puzzles. I keep buying more advanced versions because she solves them so quickly! Hera, on the other hand, doesn’t quite know what to do with a food puzzle, although she’s figured out how to stick her paw into the automatic feeder and steal a few pieces of kibble.
“Both love the fishing pole toy and any wand toys, and recently discovered the joy of catnip bubbles. Tansy also loves watching birds on the TV, but we had to stop playing it because she kept running and jumping at the TV! Each loves affection in her own way. Tansy gives nose kisses, loves chin scritches and laps to sit in, but she hates being picked up. Hera is less touchy-feely but she loves when we pick her up and carry her around. She’s also an expert biscuit maker!
“Hera, whose meows are quite raspy, loves to groom everyone. Tansy will allow this for a bit, but it eventually devolves into a wrestling match. Sometimes when Hera is grooming herself, she’ll miss and lick the blanket instead. It’s so cute! One of Hera’s favorite places to sit is beside the automatic feeder. We’ll often find her waiting there an hour before mealtime! Tansy loves to play hide and seek. If I hide behind a basket or a door, she’ll sneak up and ‘meow’ at me, then run away and hide and wait for me to find her.
“At night, Tansy and Hera either lie next to us in bed, on the couch or on our computer chairs -- anywhere except in their cat bed!”
