Stormy and Angel and Jessie Harris: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I went to a PetSmart adoption event after seeing a posting on Furry Friends FB page -- mainly because I’d had a rough day, and with my boyfriend out of town, it felt like the perfect time to make big decisions without any ‘adult supervision,’ says Jessie. "I told myself that I might come home with a kitten for emotional support.

“When I walked in, I immediately saw Stormy -- tiny, social, confident and absolutely ready to ‘clock in’ for her fulltime job as ‘center of attention.’ She looked at me as if to say, ‘You. Me. Let’s go.’ Then I looked below her and there was Angel, an adult cat with big, blue, slightly crossed eyes staring directly into my soul as if she already knew my Social Security number! Her energy was very much -- ‘You’re taking me, too. Don’t fight it.’ I knew instantly that I couldn’t leave her behind. So, instead of coming home with a cat, I came home with a family.

“Sweet Stormy settled in instantly. She’s the kind of kitten who acts as if she’s lived here since the womb, and is convinced that the world revolves around her (she isn’t wrong). Angel, on the other hand, took her time. She was shy, skittish and behaved like I was an undercover vacuum cleaner! But with patience, snacks and the gentle art of minding my own business, she blossomed. Now Angel struts around like she owns the place. Honestly, she probably does.

“Daily life now looks like this: Both girls relax in their window hammocks like two queens surveying their kingdom. Angel LOVES treats and gives the cutest little love bites when cuddling. Stormy learns ‘how to be a cat’ from my older cat Samuel, who’s fully accepted his role as Feline Mentor of the Year. And every night, Stormy nudges my face for her 3 a.m. ‘mandatory petting session’ since I’m apparently the night shift.

“Adopting Stormy and Angel was the funniest, sweetest, most chaotic and best decision I made that day. I’m so grateful to Furry Friends for giving me the chance to bring these two unique, perfectly mismatched little souls into my home. They’re officially my fur-ever family and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.”
