Jasmine and the Andersons: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“My husband Andrew and I met Jasmine at a Furry Friends adoption event held in PetSmart,” Leilani says. “We chose her because she was incredibly affectionate and loving. She purred up a kitty cat storm and really loved belly scratches.
“Her adjustment to our home was gradual, preferring to stay hidden or in her cat tree most of the day for a few days. She did, however, adjust very quickly to our large dog, Roxie. She was very curious about her and didn’t like being separated from her during that transition period.
“Jasmine is a bit quirky, but full of love. She bonded almost immediately with our 12-year-old son who showed her quiet affection and gentle attention. She also has a ‘big sister’ relationship with our kitten Stitch (adopted after Jasmine) who enjoys rough housing with Jasmine, while she and Roxie have an understanding that Jasmine is the boss!
“She enjoys playing with toys, laser toys being her favorite, loves her ‘critter on a stick,’ and is a great fan of catnip. Somewhat aloof and independent, Jasmine likes being petted and cuddled on her terms. But when she wants cuddles, she is a huge cuddle bug.
“Among her cutest quirks that make us smile are: she loves climbing and riding around on shoulders and backs; she scratches her litterbox for a minimum of 3 minutes to ensure she’s covered everything, and she likes climbing into open drawers and cubbies to make a cozy bed for herself.
“Jasmine sleeps with her 12-year-old brother every night. He is her chosen ‘person.’”
