Shadow and Hayley Fernando: Furry Friends Fur-Ever (Copy)
“I’ve had cats in the past and presently have one named Angel,” says Hayley.
“After seeing a photo of Shadow (then most fittingly called Ebony) on the Furry Friends website, I made an appointment to meet her at the shelter. As to why I chose her? I was looking for an all black cat because they’re the least adoptable.
“Shadow’s adjustment to living here was immediate. She owned the house the minute I let her out of the carrier! Unfortunately, though, she didn’t like Angel at first and would growl and hiss at her. Now the two co-exist, but they’re not friends. Shadow bullies Angel from time to time. Angel’s response is to just walk away and that’s that --nothing serious.
“On the other hand, Shadow has brought so much joy into my life. She’s a diva, my little princess. She loves toys and games, and especially enjoys chasing after wands, the laser dot, little balls and mice. But best of all, she LOVES being petted and cuddled. She’s always by my side when I’m on the couch and always sleeps right next to me in bed at night.
“She also has a few of the most endearing quirks. Every time I pick her up, she makes silly meows, then instantly melts when she’s in my arms. She also runs away from me making those same silly meows when she knows she’s about to be picked up. It’s too cute.”
