Scout and Tex and the Remleys : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“Formerly called Garfield and Yams, Scout and Tex are our first kitties together as a couple,” says Hannah. “Although we were originally looking for a female cat with a black coat, when we saw these two orange boys at the shelter, we fell in love and couldn’t resist taking them home. We loved the idea of two brothers being ‘fur-ever partners in crime.’”
“These ‘cowboys’ were initially nervous but they quickly became acquainted with their new home. Knowing they had each other helped them feel more comfortable and eased their transition into their new environment. Having this precious pair here has made our lives so much fun! They love getting into trouble and they never fail to keep us entertained. And despite their initial dislike of strangers, they quickly warm up to our various visitors.
“Although these kitties have been provided with an abundance of toys, they prefer the classics such as tub time, regular old brown boxes and paper bags. Even with all of their toys, their favorite game remains chasing and fighting together. As free spirited ‘cowboys,’ Scout and Tex spend their days ‘wrangling’ toy mice and keeping each other in line. Once they’re tuckered out, they do enjoy some cuddling and affection from us, their humans, but then they’re quickly ready to play again.
“While most cats hate water, Scout absolutely loves it! His favorite part of the day is tub time where we let the water dribble in the bath and allow him to play around in it. He also loves dunking his toy mice in his water bowl and making a mess of any water cup he can find. Both Scout and Tex love putting their toy mice under the fridge and fighting to get them back out. We find about 10 toy mice under the fridge every few days.
“As for their sleeping arrangements: our oranges love to sleep together in their tower, where you’ll usually find Scout upside down!"
