Leroy and Jethro and the Wolfords : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“We’ve owned cats before adopting Leroy and Jethro,” says Deborah. “We adopted Leroy first, and the reason I chose him was because his story brought me to tears. He had been shot with a paintball gun, and seeing his sweet face and his small purple leg tugged at my heartstrings!
“Unfortunately, we had put down our previous cat two months earlier and were still heartbroken and grieving our little gentleman. But because something about Leroy said, ‘I’m your next boy,’ we met him and adopted him on the spot. He immediately claimed our house as his own and loved having guests over. He’s very energetic and playful, but he had SO much energy and wanted to play so much that we simply couldn’t satisfy his needs as completely as we would have liked. He clearly needed an equally energetic friend with whom to play while we were at work.
“Someone at the shelter recommended Jethro to us, and when we saw his chubby-cheeked face, we instantly fell in love. We met him after his neuter surgery and brought him home the same day. Leroy welcomed him warmly and promptly wanted to play with him nonstop! Of course, due to Jethro’s surgery, we had to keep them separated for several days. Although Leroy didn’t initially relish the idea of sharing, he definitely loved having a new friend.
“The first time they played together, Leroy ‘convinced’ Jethro to join him in hunting a shrew who had entered our house through the garage. Ever since then, they’ve been best friends and they’re absolutely inseparable. Jethro loves to snuggle on our laps, eat and scratch his cardboard scratchers. Leroy loves any toy he can hunt, chase or climb, and he loves to play ‘rough’ with Jethro and us. They both enjoy grooming each other, sharing their food bowls, and watching TV in their scratch ‘n cuddle toys from CatStage.
“Leroy and Jethro have had such a positive impact on our lives, and while we still miss our sweet kitty, these two fill our days with such laughter and joy. Despite their natural curiosity about our pet frog, Bombo, for the most part, they leave him alone. Leroy bites our knees when he wants to play, and Jethro has this habit of licking any dishes left in the sink! Although we’ve made some adjustments and worked with them on these issues, we love them dearly and wouldn’t trade them for anything.”
