Olive and Madison Kruse: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“I always had cats when I was growing up,” says Madison. “Our last one was an outside cat named Milo, who would go on walks down the road with my mom.
“My boyfriend, Jacob, and I didn’t have one for awhile until we adopted Olive. We were fortunate enough to have found her (she was then called Bowie) on the Furry Friends website and we met her in person at an adoption event Furry Friends was holding at PetSmart.
“We chose her because she seemed so sweet and because she had a look about her that drew me to her. She has the most beautiful blue eyes and I love her color pattern. Although she settled into our home fairly quickly, it took a longer time for her to become accustomed to living with our six, yes, six dogs! Not to mention a leopard gecko, safe in her tank.
“Olive has truly been a wonderful addition to our crazy home. She loves exploring every nook and cranny of the place. My family loves saying ‘hi’ to her when they’re moving around the house while she pops up on her tree to say “hi” back to them. I especially love coming home, and both hearing and seeing her get excited to see me.
“Olive now gently paws at the dogs and ‘plays’ with my two smaller ones. While they don’t really like it, they never become aggressive with her. She absolutely loves cricket feeding time for the gecko, watching intently, her front paws up on the stand. Then she’ll paw at the tank when the crickets walk past her.
“A great fan of toys, Olive loves anything that’s small and moves. She also likes playing with a robotic bird and chasing after a feather fishing rod toy. Highly affectionate, she loves all sorts of attention and is definitely a snuggler. She loves sitting with my boyfriend and me when we’re in my room and she’ll often come looking for me to say ‘hi’ and to be petted. If I pick her up to say ‘hi’ back, she crawls up onto my shoulders. Then, if I’m not home, she’ll sit with my parents for attention.
“At night, Olive sleeps with me in my room.”
