Nelson and Andrea Russ : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“I’ve adopted multiple kitties (foster fails) from Furry Friends since I started fostering in 2018,” Andrea says. “Currently, although I have six who were adopted from Furry Friends, I’d like to tell you about one: Nelson or Nels for short.
“In the summer of 2020, I took in an emergency foster placement -- a very pregnant mama cat. She gave birth to nine kittens, a huge litter! I had so much fun raising and caring for the kittens during that time since we were all fairly isolated due to the pandemic. My mom named one of the kittens Nelson, and we knew almost immediately that he was destined to be ours. Nels was -- and still is -- smart, confident and sassy, and he’s always up to something! Eventually, his eight siblings were adopted out through Furry Friends and placed in wonderful homes.
“Nels fits in so well with his kitty brothers and sisters and even with my dog, Lucie. He brings me untold joy every day. He likes going outside for leashed walks, and thinks that eating grass is a special delicacy. He’ll only drink from a running tap, and ‘meows’ at me multiple times throughout the day to turn on the faucet in the sink so that he can drink from it. He’s also a great help when it comes to fostering new kittens, and is always the first to happily greet newcomers.
“I love Nelson beyond words. I truly believe that he is my soul cat, and I’m eternally grateful to Furry Friends for bringing him into my life!”
