Mochi and Devon Morehead: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“I have had cats nearly all of my life – at least since I was five,” Devon says. “Many kitties have passed through the doors of my various homes.
“Intrigued by Mochi’s online photos, I arranged to meet her at the shelter. Not only was she beautiful, she immediately bumped my hand with her head. It truly was love at first sight! Once I adopted her, I changed her name from Thistle because it simply didn’t fit. She’s far too soft to have been named after something with spiny thorns.
“Her adjustment to living here was gradual. As sweet as she was, she was quite timid in terms of exploring her new environment. In fact, she’s still a tad shy that way. I had recently divorced when I adopted Mochi, and she’s the one who keeps me company now. She’s my buddy and my constant companion. Life would be very empty without her.
“Oddly enough, Mochi prefers to be a ‘watcher’ than a ‘player’ when it comes to toys. She’s more content to snuggle than play, and being the consummate cuddle bug, she’s always ‘velcro-ed’ to me. As much as she loves cuddles and pets, she absolutely adores head scratches.
“One of Mochi’s most endearing habits is how she ‘talks’ constantly. Trills, purrs, meows, you name it!
She’s VERY much like a Siamese in that way.
“At night, Mochi sleeps on my bed with me. The minute I roll over onto my back, she jumps on my chest and meows at me to get up!”
