Mocha and the Aguilars: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I’ve had numerous cats in the past and currently have three,” Virgie says. “I met Mocha, then known as Harley, through a co-worker who had connections to a Furry Friends foster home.

“The reason I chose her was because she was extremely cute and playful and bubbled over with personality. She’s also extremely energetic, and the name Mocha, I think, fits her perfectly. We have another, slightly reserved rescue, and we wanted to see if Mocha could help her to open up more. And she definitely did!

“Mocha immediately felt comfortable living with us. In fact, on the first day she was napping everywhere and exploring everything as if she knew that she already owned the place. She’s completely changed the environment here! Mocha has not only helped her sister relax more and feel less lonely, she’s given her someone to wrestle and chase around the house. She’s also brought a great deal of laughter into our own lives – and so much pleasant and positive energy.

Emodini, our 14-year-old sphynx who’s somewhat grumpy tolerates Mocha, while Mira, our 3-year-old tuxedo/locket female Mira is very intrigued by her. Although Mocha can be a little rough, she gets along well with Mira, even pushing her to try new things and showing her that they’re fun, not scary!

“Mocha, with her enviable energy, loves playing with everything. She even bites my hair! She particularly likes her toy fish and anything that can be tossed and fetched. I didn’t know we had adopted a dog! She also loves head and neck scratches, but only on her conditions and only when she’s burned out from running around so much.

“She’s also quite the ‘goof ball.’ I recently caught her climbing underneath our sofa like Spiderman, which was hilarious. Because she’s fetch trained, she brings me her toys even when I’m resting, and I’m bound to wake up with a random toy in my hand or on my forehead.

“At night, Mocha sleeps everywhere -- in the closet, on the sofa, the carpet, the cat stand – although at some point she lies down on the bed with us. Not surprisingly, she’s always the first one up and makes certain that we know it!”
