Leon and Nicole Colpron : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail
“I adopted Leon because my current cat, Chili, needed a friend,” says Nicole.
“When I opened his kennel at the shelter to see him, he wanted all the pets he could get and he wasn’t timid at all. Then, as I went to put him back, he grabbed my hand with his paws, as if saying ‘please, don’t leave me here!’ It so broke my heart that I knew I needed him in my life and in Chili’s.
“The day I brought Leon home in his cat carrier, I placed it on my kitchen floor. Chili promptly came up to smell him while Leon was at the front of the carrier trying to smell Chili. Neither of them hissed or had their hair raised, so I opened the door of the carrier. They smelled each other and instantly started playing together! I couldn’t have been more thankful for such a positive introduction between my two boys.
“Having instantly bonded, Leon and Chili are now the best brothers. They groom each other daily, sleep in their cat beds together and ‘hassle’ each other whenever they’re in the bathroom ... lol. Chili is thankful to have another kitty in his life to play with, and my roomie loves them and gets tricked into feeding them because ‘they are so cute’ as my roomie says. Leon has been an amazing addition to the family.
“Leon loves playing with the plastic balls from my roomie’s kids’ ball pit and loves chasing the bugs that are flying around. He also loves ALL of the pets and ALL of the cuddles he can get -- which I love too, because Chili doesn’t like to cuddle. Leon is great with my roomie’s kids and always lets them pick him up and pet him.
“Because Leon used to eat his food so quickly that it made him cough, I got a slow-feeder dish to help, and he’s doing so well with it now. One of his most ‘endearing’ quirks, though, is the way he grooms me while I’m sleeping and, naturally, waking me up. .
“He sleeps wherever he pleases, but when I’m ready for bed, he’ll come up and make biscuits and then fall asleep next to me while Chili will be in the cat bed.”
