Jasper and Angela Orozco: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I originally went to the Humane Society because they were having a free adoption event, but it was so crowded that I decided to leave,” says Angela. “I went to the PetSmart down the street because I needed cat food, and discovered that Furry Friends was also having a free adoption event with NO crowd! I felt more at ease there and knew the cats would be less anxious too.

“I asked if there were any young males since I expected my 4-year-old female kitty Joie to be territorial towards another female, and thought she’d accept a male more easily. The volunteer quickly responded, ‘Yes! We have a young Russian Blue named Eddie.’ My kitty is also a Russian Blue and I felt like that happenstance moment was meant to be.

“After changing his name to Jasper, I slowly introduced him to Joie over the course of a week. He wasn’t thrilled about being sequestered in the guest bedroom and made certain I knew it! He has a loud meow for such a small guy. Joie hissed at him at first, but thankfully, they now get along and love wrestling each other and running zoomies around the house. They even cuddle together, and every so often I find Jasper grooming Joie’s face.

“Jasper and Joie have a basket full of toys along with a tunnel and multiple scratching posts. They seem most content, though, when ALL of the toys are spread out on the floor! Jasper especially likes the crinkle balls.

“Jasper sleeps with me at night, and even crawls under the covers, does a U-turn so that his head is uncovered, and rests his head on the pillow! Other times, he’ll lie right next to my head. He’s extremely cuddly, has the largest eyes and may be a bit clumsy, but I love him to pieces and my home is complete with him.

“I’m so thankful to Furry Friends, the fosters and the volunteers for holding a free adoption event that wasn’t overrun with people which provided the quiet space and time for Jasper and I to meet and connect. I’ll definitely consider adopting from Furry Friends again. I may need a bigger house first, though!”
