Hendrix and the Texeiras: Furry Friends Fur-Ever
“We currently have three small dogs and one sassy cat named Misty, who’s three,” says Nicole.
“After seeing a photo of Hendrix on the Furry Friends website, we attended an adoption event at PetSmart to meet him. We chose him because his mom was the sweetest cat we had ever seen, and he was shy but curious. I just felt an immediate connection with him, and when I saw that he had ‘thumbs,’ we knew he was the one for us. Our son in sixth grade jokingly told his class that he wished he had a cat with ‘thumbs’ … a dream come true!
“Because of our other pets, we introduced Hendrix to them, slowly and gradually, over the period of a week. The three dogs adapted more quickly than Misty, who was a little grumpy, and who definitely set boundaries. He’s such a sweet, loving boy who loves cuddling and making biscuits on us.
“I think Hendrix considers himself a dog at times since he loves to wrestle and jump at the dogs and the cat. He’s so playful and so, so much fun. As for toys and games: he loves boxes, and any Amazon delivery is such a treat for him. Two of his especially endearing habits that always make us smile: he loves PopCorners kettle corn chips. At night, we watch a show and he nibbles on a tiny corner, trying to hold it with his ‘thumbs.’ He also loves sitting on shoulders.
“He sleeps on our bed or under it, and likes to wake us up early with purrs and face rubs.”
