Furguson and the Stricklands : Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“A few months ago, our beloved 19-year-old kitty, Luci, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge,” says Jeanine. “My husband Tim and I had adopted our now 8-year-old tuxedo Bowie (formerly Storm) from Furry Friends in 2020, and because having him here has been wonderful, we decided to adopt another Furry Friends cat.

“While browsing the Furry Friends website, I saw a picture of Earl, now Furguson, Furgus or Furgie for short, and knew he needed to join our family. When we met him at PetSmart, though, he was extremely shy and kept trying to hide behind other cats. He did, however, allow us to hold him. He was so soft and so sweet that we promptly decided to make this gray tuxedo the newest member of our family!

“There were definitely some initial adjustments to his living here. He hid under the bed for a week, but gradually started to come out and explore the house. Barely two years of age, with plenty of energy, Furguson gets the ‘zoomies’ several times a day. He not only loves chasing his own tail, he frequently pounces on our feet under the covers as well as on his new brother, Bowie.

“Exceedingly bright, he loves working on puzzles and getting into kitty mischief. Bowie, for his part, has shown him how to climb onto counters to sneak food. They especially enjoy taking turns attacking the feather on a string, and although they fight and wrestle a lot, we feel that they’re really ‘secret friends’ when they think we’re not watching, and that they truly do get along!

“A very talented Parkour cat and blessed with an extremely loud purr, Furguson loves sitting beside us on the couch when we’re watching TV. He also loves dramatically flopping himself down in front of us and proudly displaying his belly. He knows how cute he is! He also enjoys ‘making biscuits’ on the donut beds and lying on the windowsill in the sun.

“At night, he sleeps on one of our cat trees or on one of the towers.”
