Jon : Volunteer Spotlight
“I have been volunteering with Furry Friends for more than a year now,” says Jon. “In fact, a good friend of mine actually recommended Furry Friends to me.
“I spend two hours a week every Sunday mostly attending to the many kitty ‘guests’ in the Living Room and Connie’s Corner. One of my two favorite parts about volunteering is interacting with all of the cats, because working with cats is second nature to me. The other part is interacting with everyone else on my shift, because they’re extremely friendly. We certainly enjoy joking around and, needless to say, we all have a good time.
“My proudest moments as a volunteer/socializer are those when I can help distract the kitties from whatever their current situation is by playing with them and, best of all, getting them to purr.
“As to why I give back? I give back in this way because I believe so strongly that all animals deserve a chance at a better life. And although I’ve usually had at least one kitty in my house, I don’t have any now. I do, however, have various hobbies and interests including woodworking, ‘creative’ projects and … close-up magic.”
