Abigail Burkhardt: Volunteer Spotlight

“I have only been volunteering with Furry Friends for one week,” Abigail says. “I got involved with you because I wanted to foster cats and googled the nearest shelter.”

“At present, I’m happily fostering two adorable kittens! My favorite part about fostering? So far, I absolutely adore watching their little personalities grow. My greatest challenge, of course, is not falling in love with them. Although I haven’t had them for long, my proudest moment to date has been seeing them slowly become less fearful of the vacuum.

“Outside of Furry Friends, I work fulltime in the Radiology Department at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. As to why I give back in this way: for the love of animals, of course!

“Just for fun: My fiancé and I love backpacking and being outdoors in the Pacific Northwest.”
