“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”

Board Treasurer, Shift Leader

Have you met Cynthia yet? She sits on Furry Friends’ Board of Directors as Treasurer! Additionally, she is a Shift Leader for the Thursday morning crew!
Cynthia started volunteering with Furry Friends in June of 2020, becoming the Thursday morning shift leader, and later adding socializer and fosterer along the way (although she ‘foster failed’, adopting two the adorable ginger girls in her care).
Having recently retired from a lengthy career in accounting, Cynthia wanted to do something more meaningful with the next phase of her life. Caring for cats and encouraging young woman has always been her heart’s passion, so she researched a few cat rescues in the area and liked the environment and services Furry Friends provided and jumped in with both paws!

When Cynthia’s not volunteering with Furry Friends and Soroptimist, she enjoy healthy cooking, golf, hiking, traveling and personal development.

Cynthia has an amazing husband, Craig, who so kindly supports her love for cats and encourages her to grow personally. Her little fur faces have always been her babies. From the time she was a small child, she’s always had kitties! She had this to say, “I love everything about them! From their ears, whiskers, tails, purrs, and even their cat attitude.” Cynthia and Craig now have three babies, a 20 pounder Maine Coon mix named Wolfie, and two cute as a bug ginger girls named Tink and Tilly.
