2025 Year End Review by FF Executive Director Jenn Hutchman

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As 2025 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary journey we’ve been on together this year. What a year of hope, healing, and miracles — all made possible because of you.

Thanks to your dedication, compassion, and generosity, Furry Friends Cat Rescue saved over 1,200 cats and kittens this year. Kittens born in cold sheds and alleys. Seniors left behind when their owners moved away. Injured cats struggling just to eat or survive another night. Every life that came through our door represents a story of courage, resilience, and second chances — all this is made possible because you chose to act.

Because the truth is simple — without rescue, most stray cats don’t make it.

They suffer from untreated infections. They starve. They freeze. They are hit by cars, attacked by wildlife, or die slowly from preventable illness. Life outdoors is not freedom — it’s a daily fight for survival.

Every time a cat is rescued, treated, and placed into a safe, loving environment, it is a small victory — but we know the fight is far from over.

The Stark Reality: Millions of Cats Need Us

Across the United States, there are an estimated 60 to 100 million stray and feral cats living outdoors. These cats face immense challenges daily, from hunger and disease to the constant threat of injury or death. Tragically, only 25% of feral kittens survive past 6 months of age, highlighting the harsh reality of life on the streets.

Closer to home, right here in Clark County and across Washington State, the numbers are staggering. Thousands of cats live outside with no one to care for them, reproduce at alarming rates, and often become trapped in cycles of hunger, illness, and neglect. These are not just numbers — these are lives. Lives that suffer in silence. Lives that desperately need the care and compassion that Furry Friends can provide.

This is why your support matters now more than ever. Every dollar you give, every hour you volunteer, and every home you open to a foster or adoption saves a life — and helps break the cycle of suffering.

Looking Ahead — A Dream Becoming Reality

As incredible as this year has been, the best is yet to come. At the end of 2025, we will officially break ground on our long-awaited Furry Friends Medical Building— a dedicated facility that will transform the way we care for community cats.

Once the medical building is complete, we’ll be able to:

Provide in-house spay and neuter services, ensuring that fewer kittens are born into hardship.

Launch a full-scale TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program for stray and feral cats, which has proven to reduce populations humanely over time.

Offer immediate emergency medical care without delay or added cost, giving every injured or sick cat a fighting chance.

Support other rescues and community caretakers with affordable treatment options, allowing us to extend our impact even further.

This building will not only save lives — it will prevent suffering before it starts.

We Can’t Slow Down Now

As long as there are cats still out there struggling to survive, our work isn’t done.

We cannot — and will not — turn away.

Every year, thousands of cats are born into uncertain, dangerous circumstances. Every year, hundreds more suffer injuries and illnesses that could be treated if only help were available. This is why we cannot slow down. The cats need us — and we will be there for them.

One Final Gift — One More Life Saved

If you are able, will you make one final year-end gift today?

From My Heart to Yours

I want to personally thank you. Whether you donated, volunteered, adopted, fostered, or simply shared a post when a cat needed help — you were part of saving lives this year.

Because of you, thousands of soft purrs, kneading paws, and second chances now exist in this world — instead of being lost to the streets.

I also want to extend a special thank you to our generous sponsors, supporters, volunteers, board of directors, and staff. Your dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment are the backbone of Furry Friends, and we could not do this work without you. Each one of you plays a critical role in changing lives — both feline and human.

From all of us at Furry Friends — and from every whiskered friend whose life you helped change —

Thank you, and Happy New Year.

With gratitude and determination,

Jenn Hutchman
