Plum Olivia and the Huberts: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I never expected that one small cat would so completely change the feeling of our home,” says Ellie, “but that’s what happened when Plum Olivia entered our lives.

“Originally known as Princess Plum, a name that already carried such charm and personality, she had been fostered by two of my closest friends, Olivia and Jake. When we officially welcomed her home, her name evolved into Plum Olivia. For years, my husband had resisted the idea of a third cat, but once he met Plum, something about her clicked instantly.

“Plum settled in as if she had always belonged here, while the transition wasn’t as seamless for our other two cats. They took a few months to fully accept their new housemate. Plum, however, arrived at a time when we were sorely in need of comfort. After the loss of my mother-in-law, there was a quiet heaviness in the house. Plum’s warmth and affection helped fill that space with joy, laughter and a love that only animals seem to give so freely.

“She soon formed a special bond with Gizmo, our eldest cat, and they’re now inseparable. Whether they’re playing or simply existing side by side, their friendship is one of the many small, happy rhythms Plum brought into our household. Like any cat, Plum has her preferences. She adores spring toys, batting them around with endless enthusiasm, turning even the simplest object into entertainment. But more than anything, she’s affectionate. Plum gives the best cuddles, the kind that make you pause and soak in the moment.

“At night, Plum doesn’t follow any strict routine. She sleeps wherever she pleases, drifting from spot to spot as if the whole house belongs to her -- which, in many ways, it does. Plum Olivia may have started as Princess Plum, a foster cat cared for by friends, but she’s become so much more than that. She’s a companion, a comfort and a constant source of happiness, proving that sometimes, the right cat doesn’t just join your home … they complete it.”
