Nora and Enid and Heather Sveinsson: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I have had cats ever since I was born!” Heather says.

“We had recently lost one of our two senior cats and wanted some new, younger friends for our other senior cat and our five-year-old daughter. After visiting the Furry Friends’ website, we attended an adoption event at PetSmart and came across a pair of bonded kitten sisters called Strawberry Shortcake and Blackberry Tart.

“The tabby we renamed Nora was so spunky and playful, while the black cat we renamed Enid was sweet and affectionate. Needless to say, they both warmed up to us right away! Talk about a perfect combination for our family of two adults, one five-year-old and one senior cat.

“The kittens’ adjustment to living in our home was almost immediate – perhaps two to three days. Nora and Enid have breathed so much life, playfulness and fun into our household, and our daughter has so much fun playing with them. Our remaining senior cat has adopted a big brother/uncle role towards them and they happily spend all of their time together.

“Nora and Enid love any and all of the various cat toys we provide them, as well as such ‘non-toys’ as shoelaces, houseplants, the shower curtain, the rug, etc.  And they both love being petted and cuddled all the time. As for their especially endearing habits: Enid likes to give us ‘love bites’ on our faces, while Nora is a wild one, always racing around the house and getting into mischief.

“The kittens either sleep on our daughter’s bed or our bed, that is, until they start licking us in the middle of the night and get put in the living room! Their favorite spots are on the couch or in their kitty bed … or on the floor outside of our doors.”
