Dolly and Winnie and Stephanie Leeper : Furry Friends Fur-Ever Tail

“I’ve had many kitties in my life,” says Stephanie. “When I lost Bella, my 17-year-old kitty, I was kitty-less for the first time.

“I wanted a bonded pair of older cats because I know bonded pairs can be harder to place, and I wanted each one to have a kitty companion. When I met the girls, then named Fish and Chips, at Woodinu, I wasn’t in a position to take them home that day. And yet, the next day I put in my adoption application and the rest is history!

“The girls took some time to adjust and Dolly had her front leg amputated soon after joining our family. Fortunately, she bounced back immediately and now she and Winnie are running the household. I think having each other helped them adjust to the house and their new family.

“Dolly and Winnie have truly brought so much joy and light into my world. I could sit and watch them play and roughhouse together for hours. They both bubble over with personality and are more unique than any kitties I’ve ever met. They have full reign of the upstairs and have their toys and beds all over the place. Their first love is chasing after a fly or chirping at birds outside. They love crinkle mats and tunnels, anything that makes noise, motion toys and ribbon wands. Dolly’s being a three-legged kitty doesn’t slow her down in the slightest.

“My two dogs still aren’t quite sure what to think, and although they’ve met the cats, I’m still introducing them slowly. Given that one of my dogs suffers from recurring IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), and is unable to go upstairs, allows the dogs to rule the downstairs.
“The girls are such cuddle bugs! They love scratches, making biscuits on my arm, and drooling all over the bed. They’re extremely vocal about the need for scratches right this minute! I love picking up Winnie because she gives great kitty hugs, while Dolly loves to flop and roll around the bed until she gets her proper allotment of kisses. They both love being with their humans and each other, being loved and giving love, and wherever Winnie is, Dolly is too.

“Dolly loves to roll around, almost like a ferret, rolling and rolling and rolling! She also loves to stretch out to her full height in the window vertically to catch the birds flying in ‘her’ neighborhood. Winnie is the queen of fetch. If you throw it, she’ll catch it and likely bring it right back. If I’m working from home, Winnie loves to sit on my shoulders like a little parrot.

“At night, they love sleeping in their individual kitty hammocks, in a fluffy bed together, in a recliner with a fluffy blanket or on a human bed.”
