Doja and Kim Boell: Furry Friends Fur-Ever

“I have always had cats for as long as I can remember,” Kim says. “My last set were brothers I had raised since they were babies. I lost the second brother after 18.5 years with him a little over a year ago.

“I finally couldn’t stand not having a sweet baby to play with and snuggle. And although I take care of 5 outdoor feral cats with food and cat shelters, I so missed touching and loving on a house cat.

“My husband and I have followed Furry Friends both online and on their website, and we started looking casually at the cats being posted. We wanted an adult cat, one who would feel comfortable being home alone while we’re at work. Since we have a very small house, two cats would have been too much.

“When I saw Doja’s photo, I emailed Furry Friends, filled out the application and heard back the same day! She’s a beautiful 4-year-old Calico, and we went to the shelter the next day to meet her. She was so sweet and so friendly that we simply couldn’t leave without her.

“It took a few weeks for Doja to settle in fully, but now she sleeps at my feet at night and on my lap in the evening. She’s extremely energetic and playful, and loves chasing fuzzy little balls and spring toys around. She also loves her Catasaurus tunnel, cartons, of course, playing hide and seek with us and watching the feral cats and birds outside. She wakes my husband up at 6AM by patting his eyes and meowing in his ears, but she lets me sleep!
